Universities big economic force in the area



Wright State, Dayton, Sinclair contribute $1.56B to local economy
Three big contributors to the overall economic impact of colleges and universities — Wright State University, University of Dayton and Sinclair Community College — form a tight triangle of spending in the Miami Valley, according to data collected by the Southwestern Ohio Council of Higher Education.

The three institutions contribute a combined $1.56 billion to the Miami Valley's economy, more than half of the $2.95 billion overall economic impact of 19 colleges and universities located from Urbana to Middletown.

Murray Leff provides a World War II memoir, Life of a WWII Rifleman.
With a camera hidden under his field jacket, Leff recorded live
infantry action while fighting with the 35th Infantry Division. His
2007 book, Lens of an Infantryman, is dedicated to Leff's fallen comrades who were deprived of the full life he has been able to enjoy. Reception to follow.

Create a unique and whimsical scarecrow to be entered into Wegerzyn’s 9th Annual Scarecrow Convention Contest! Just bring the scarecrow’s clothes and accessories, and your creativity to Wegerzyn and learn how to put together a fantastic fall masterpiece. Stuffing straw, stakes and some craft items will be provided. Scarecrows must reside at Wegerzyn until after Nov. 1, when the Convention has been adjourned.
