will be a STAR this New Year's Eve at this no-alcohol family
celebration. Enjoy live musical entertainment, an art project by K12
Gallery, children's face painter and comedian under the heated tent.
Fireworks at midnight over the Great Miami River. Also enjoy ice
skating for a $5 ice rink admission fee which includes ice skates.

The bus accumulated passengers as the snow fell. Fumbling new riders shuffled for change, trying to ask the driver questions over the electric motor's whir. They stumbled to their seats, melting flakes dripping on the floor. Their cars, like mine, were at home. That day, their cars were inconvenient.

More funding for the Valley



Local projects stand to get $300M in funding
A bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives late Monday includes money for the Mary Scott Nursing Center in Dayton, for Clark State's new Greene County campus, and for a new security building at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

In all, the Miami Valley expects to receive at least $300 million for local projects in the $516 billion spending bill.

Alternative Energy in Ohio?

Renewable energy companies would see a portion of taxes paid by their new employees reinvested in green energy programs under a House plan.

House Speaker Jon Husted, a Dayton-area Republican, on Tuesday proposed creation of an 11-member Ohio Renewable Energy Authority to oversee use of the income taxes earmarked to promote new energy technologies.
