Dayton prepares for plenty of MLK-day events

Festivities in the city of Dayton honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. begin today and extend to Jan. 21, the federal holiday that honors the late civil rights leader's birth.

"Dayton has set the tone for the celebration over the last several years. It's known throughout the country," said the Rev. Raleigh Trammell, national chairman and Dayton Southern Christian Leadership Conference official.
